What is discoid lupus?

Lupus disease can affect to the heart, kidney, skin, nervous system and joints. When internal organs are involved, the condition is called systemic lupus erythematosus and if only the skin is involved, then the disease called discoid lupus.

Autoimmune thyroid disease may triggered by environmental agents

According to researchers here at the American Thyroid Association meeting on May 15, 2010, multiple genetic and environmental risk factors can trigger autoimmune thyroid disease in humans.

Lupus disease is classified as an autoimmune disease. It can affect different parts of human body. Commonly lupus affects the joints, lungs, kidney, skin, heart, blood, and brain. In normal healthy body, the immune system generates proteins called antibodies.
