When you have this DLE or Discoid lupus erythematosus you will feel that your skin get sores due to the inflammation and scar. That condition is called Discoid lupus erythematosus where usually people have it in the face, ears, scalp and other body as well.  You could see that the middle area of that scar would look lighter and surrounding looks darker.
