Arthritis hurts hispanics and african-americans more than whites
April 16th, 2010
Arthritis is the most common cause of disability in the United States, causing handicap to nearly 19 million adults aged 18 years and older.
According to a research released on Thursday by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), arthritis disease may cause more limitations and pain on Hispanics and African-Americans than on whites.
Compared with whites, Hispanics and African-Americans with arthritis were almost twice likely to report severe arthritis and work limitations.
U.S. adults spent 353 billion U.S. dollars in treating arthritis in 2005, up 22 percent from that of 1997, the CDC said.
Behind the increased expenditures for arthritis is the fact that the number of patients increased by 22 percent, with per capita expense up 15 percent.
The study also found that Hispanics were 46 percent while African-Americans were 17 percent less likely to report having arthritis than whites.
The reason for the racial and ethnic differences, according to the latest CDC study, may result from a lack of access to health care, language barriers and cultural differences.
“We must address these stark differences in arthritis impact by using what we know,” said Jennifer Hootman, an epidemiologist for the CDC’s National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion.
Another recent CDC study predicted that 25 million U.S. adults with arthritis will report arthritis-attributable activity limitations by the year 2030, and medical expenditures among people with arthritis will continue to rise.

I opine that to receive the personal loans from creditors you should present a good motivation. But, one time I’ve got a auto loan, because I wanted to buy a bike.
